Gotou art museum is famous for holding numerous National treasures including the ‘Genjimonogatariemaki’ and ‘Murasakisikibuenikkiemaki’. The building, designed by Isoya Yoshida, adopts a Shinden-zukuri styled architecture resembling historical homes made of for noblemen. Within the property, which is roughly 20,000 square meters, there is a spacious garden featuring Musashino’s spectacular forrest. Furthermore you can enjoy other features of the garden such as Buddhist stone sculptures and seasonal flowers like the Tokyo’s Natural Monument, ‘Kaminoge no Kobushi’. We hold an exhibition six or seven times a year, displaying different items each time for everyone to enjoy. In 2017, the main building and garden teahouses, the ‘Kokeiro’ and ‘Fuzimitei’, both officially became registered cultural properties of Japan.
